A diamond in the rough - Alone in the Dark

Remember how much Atari hyped up Alone in the Dark? There was a new trailer, interview, behind-the-scenes video, and more every week. The promotion was never-ending, but when the game finally came out, it wasn’t worth a quarter of the hype. While some good ideas were at play, the overall game was not a very good one. That’s how most reviewers felt, anyway.

Perhaps everyone was a bit too harsh on the title. There is

some fun to be found in the game, and whether you look past all the dirty, rough parts, you might actually like what you find. Was everyone to quick to jump on the game and kick it while it was down? I mean, that is the nature of the Web, after all. possibly that game warrants a second look…and playthrough.
